Recipes

Jesus said, “I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” ( John 6:35,NIV)  He is the only One who can truly satisfy the longing within each of us.  I love to make bread!  It is so much better than store- bought and smells soooo good when you take it out of the oven.  The feeling of comfort and nourishment that it brings is incomparable.  Here is one of my favorite bread recipes, enjoy!

Sunflower Oatmeal Bread

2 c. unbleached flour, 2 c. old-fashioned oats, 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/3 c. walnuts (or your choice of chopped nuts), 1/4 c. sunflower seeds, 4 t. yeast, 1 and 1/2 t. salt, 1 and 1/2 c. water, 2/3 c. vegetable oil, 1/2 c. buttermilk, 1/2 c. honey, 2 eggs, 1 and 1/2 c. whole wheat flour.

.Activate yeast in small bowl by adding a pinch of flour and a pinch of sugar and 1/2 c. warm water.  Let stand while you combine dry ingredients.  In saucepan heat water, oil, honey, buttermilk to lukewarm.  Add to dry ingredients and add yeast mixture.  Beat in eggs, and whole wheat flour.  Keep adding unbleached flour until you have a soft dough.  Let rise 1 hour.  Divide into 3 loaves and put into greased bread pans.  Let rise until double.  Beat 1 egg and 1 T. water and brush over loaves, sprinkle with handful of oats and bake at 350 degrees for 30 min.  Makes 3 loaves.

A Place of Grace

Welcome, weary traveler!  Come inside and rest a while…away from the pressures and stress of life.  Come sit with me at the feet of Jesus.  The One who said, “Come unto Me…”  Are you weary?  Lonely?  Betrayed?  There is nothing too big, too bad, or too small for Him.  He cares about every detail of your life and holds the answers to every problem.  I have found Him to be faithful and true in my journey and you will in yours.

This is HeartsHome, a place to find peace and refreshment, encouragement, and blessing.  If you are searching, He is the One you have been looking for.  He will never leave or forsake you, and He wants to give you rest in your soul.  If you already know Him or if this is your first encounter, let’s journey on together to His abundance.

I always get up in the morning and drink a cup of tea, while I have my time with Him.  It’s my special time in the dark of the morning to draw in and hear Him speak to me.  I have walked with Jesus for 44 years, since the age of 7, when I first heard Him knock on my heart’s door.  In my teen years, I struggled with keeping a consistent morning time with Him.  There were so many late night adventures, sports, etc. and the weariness of adolescence.  So, I would meet with Him in the late hours to learn and grow.  Then, after I married and was a young mom, I had babies to care for in the early morning, and had to grab time with Him when I could!  I was guilt -ridden at those times, but He understood and He was the One who gave me those young lives to nurture and bless.  So, when you struggle in these or other areas, remember He sees your heart’s desire to be with Him and waits patiently until you can have that special moment.  Walk in freedom and watch for the God-moments.  He thrills at “one glance…”from you and is patient and full of grace.  Your life season will change and you will be able to sit in His beautiful Presence and rejoice.
